BulletDiving & snorkeling in Cyprus

Around island Cyprus can be found a magnificent underwater world with perfect diving and snorkeling resorts! With sea temperatures of 16 degrees Celsius in January, 21 in May, 28 in August and 24 in October, Cyprus has become a popular scuba dive location in the Mediterranean Sea and in the world. There are no tides or dangerous currents and the waters are crystal-clear, with visibility reaching 30-40 meters and even more!
On the southeastern point of Cyprus (Cape Greko) you'll find some of the island's most popular snorkeling and diving locations, with a variety of caves and reefs ranging from 10 to 40 meters, so this is an ideal place for beginners as well as for experienced divers.
On top of the natural beauty of Cyprus is the collection of rarities, highly appreciated by divers. Rarities such as the "Zenobia", an enormous sunken ferry, can be seen here; this wreck is, according to experts, one of the best wrecks to dive in the world! But wreck "Zenobia" is not the only treasure in the Cyprus' underwaters. There are also "Achilles" and "Vera K", well known wrecks off Paphos. "Achilles" lies 5 kilometers from harbor of Paphos at a depth of 11 meters. A another popular wreck is not far from Paphos' harbor. "Vera K" was a Turkish cargo which sank in a small hollow in the seabed, allowing divers to combine wreck diving with the exploration of the reef and its marine life.

Cyprus is also famous for its underwater caves and the dive resorts from Paphos, with its stony seabed, is the underwater jewel of the island. The "Amphitheatre" with its terraces is accessible to divers only, but how can an amphitheatre be under the water? It's not an optical illusion, the underwater currents eroded over thousands of years the cave roof, finally bringing it down and uncovering three ring shaped walls of 10-12 meters high. The place named Avdimou Wall, also with many caves, offers to beginner and experienced divers beautiful underwater sights.
With so many things to see on and around the island, Cyprus is the ideal place to combine snorkeling and diving with cultural holidays. Just on this island a holiday maker can see flamingos on Limassol's salt lakes or an octopus in a Roman amphora during the diving hours!
